How to Go to Wireless at the Laramie County Library

What Equipment do I Need?

Laptop computer, PDA, or other device with
a wireless network interface card and a charged battery. There are a limited number of electrical outlets available.

How Secure is the Wireless Connection?

Information sent to or from your wireless device can be captured by anyone else with a wireless device and the appropriate software.

Is Technical Support Available with My Wireless Connection or Personal Device?

Unfortunately, library staff is unable to provide any support with your wireless connection.

Is Printing Available?

While in the library, you can print your work wirelessly. Items can be picked up in the “blue room” (the copy/print room) on any floor. There is a minimal fee for printing. You will be presented with instructions on how to set up a printer. Instructions for wireless printing will appear after you connect successfully.
*Currently printing is not available for Windows 7 operation system.

What if I Still Have Trouble Printing?

Firewall protection and Internet security can interfere with wireless printing. Please disable all Internet protection products (including firewall settings) before you use the printing applet.

Uninstall the printer from your laptop then reinstall the printer.

How Do I Set Up My Computer?

You likely will not need to change your computer’s settings to connect; simply launch your web browser. Log-in with your library card number – without the “a” and “b” – and PIN (which is WYLD until you change it – which we strongly recommend you do). If you cannot connect immediately, use the following troubleshooting tips.

Browser/Window Configuration

Windows 2000

Mainstream support for the Windows 2000 client software has ended.

Windows Vista

  • From Control Panel, open Network and Internet. Select Connect to the Internet, then select
Wireless – Connect using a wireless network.
  • Right-click Network Connection Manager, located on the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
  • Select Library Public Wi-Fi, and press Connect.

Windows XP

  • Right click on Wireless Network Connection and select View Available Wireless Networks.
  • Select Library Public Wi-Fi, and press Connect.

If You Use Internet Explorer 7.0

The web page may display “There is a problem with this website’s security certificate.” If so, click Continue to this website (not recommended.)
